BM this morning was like the past 3 days. Green, stringy, looks like 'green specs' within it, like undigested food. I'm confused because all I've been eating is flipping broth and soup!! wtfffff.
The first bit of it was a bit more formed, but still looks like the classic 'after sweet potato/starch'
My legs have been achy yesterday, last night and today a bit.
A bit of a rumbling stomach this morning which again is confusing.
Breathing is much better at the moment.

BM this morning small and green again, 'stringy' - not formed as I'd like. Have a bit of a bubbly stomach. 
Big day today - down to brisbane. raining SO heavily today - so many crashes on the highway and water streams almost of the road in so many places !! scary times.

Day 40: NEW BEGINNINGS

Day 40, January 23rd, Monday 2012


Today, I am going to stock up on stock bones, joints, etc etc to make a WHOLE HEAP of meat broth.
I am going to buy some more vegies to make broth soups. Carrots, butternut squash, zucchini and so on.
I need to stock up on some fresh herbs and also some spices to use in the future.
Today I am 're-starting' the SCD - but doing it the GAPS way.
The past couple of days have been very uncomfortable for me - a LOT of gas, bubbling and gurgling. All because I ate split peas and lima beans. I ate large quantities I must admit, so they're gonna be off the list for a while unfortunately.

This morning I'm waking to a fresh ginger tea, and will follow that with my probiotic capsule. I usually take them at night but I'm going to start taking them in the morning after my drinks of water etc.

FOOD

8am

  • cooked butternut squash - about 3/4 cup
  • 5 pieces/slices poached pear

  • Poached parrot white fish

BM today was easy to pass, however green and TP revealed slight mucus tendencies! Stringy looking most definitely, and in 'clumps' ... not one big formed stool. Looked 'airy' like there was air trapped within, just a stringy looking stool.
Stomach is still feeling slightly unsettled, so today I am gonna eat safe as possible, need to buy the goodies for stock, whip that up and also I'm going to eat my piece of fish today and also maybe whip out the sea scallops I bought, however I don't want to waste them/use them up just because I feel I have to! Maybe I'll wait til tomorrow when my tummy is feeling a bit more settled to eat them :) I'm sure they'll last.
Have not had as much gas today as yesterday thank goodness! it's been very mild and hardly noticeable.
Bubbling in stomach has been not noticeable. Occasionally sometimes but nothing huge.

Face feels slightly irritated after eating this fish and beans mix (it was eaten at about 8.30pm)
Have had SUCH a chronic bubbling/gassy day today :( gahhhhh soooo annoying.
I'm making heaps of soup broth tomorrow... i'm gonna sort of restart the SCD but this time i'm following GAPS instead. 


Woke with an upset stomach. Bit of bubbling and gurgling. ... Hmm..
BM this morning quite green in appearance. Formed but looser and 'stringy' appearance. definite residue on TP. First part looked slightly constipated in appearance with stringyness.

Feel good after this meal.
Went to markets to buy some more fruit and veg :) 
Bought: lychees, 3 plums, broccoli, spring onions, mushrooms, beetroot x 2, 1 nectarine, 1 zucchini, sugar snap peas, + treated myself (with bday money) to a print that I saw last weekend and fell absolutely in love with. It's of a girl lying with eyes closed amongst a really beautifully painted array of flowers. SO PRETTY. It's called "flower child" - how I see myself :)

Breathing is a bit crappy after this meal. It might just be the whole muscle situation you know.. like the muscles situated near the stomach/diaphragm. WHO KNOWS! It's mighty confusing and mighty annoying.

Green in colour, TP residue. Looks 'stringy' - often how it does after I eat SP. But other than that, good size etc.
Have had good energy today. Feeling pretty good, felt a bit tired /odd after markets this morning but after a bit of a rest was ok.
Have had no bubbling or gurgling today again! woohoo.. even after those 2 whole sweet potatoes yesterday!

I apologize for no pictures recently. I have been a bit slack not gonna lie. I'm in the midst of trying to fix my webcam so it will be easier to just take a happy snap everyday and post it straight onto here without having to upload from my camera everyday :D

Finally had my BM at about 3pm. But it was relatively small and constipated in appearance. It did look normal colour however.
Had nother BM about 8pm. Small but samish, good form etc. 


Breathing has in general been better today. Also a bit present after SP meals. 


Have still not had daily BM (it is almost 3pm) - not sure why . Hopefully will by tonight!

skin is looking a bit settled down, wondering whether its because i hadn't eaten red meat in about 4 days...?
I aim to eat red meat only twice a week now. So, today I ate red meat and tomorrow I will also because I have more meatballs made and some more diced lamb ;) 
Must admit I'm feeling pretty dang good after all this Sweet Potato today - no rumbling at all in the tumtum. Niiice.
The whole rumbling sitch has been good today and also yesterday I think, soo thats good!

BM this morning quite yellow. Residue on TP. Burping quite a bit today after foods. 
Need to chill out and relax..... today was hectic, didn't stop. Not too keen on days like that all the time.
Had shocking sleep last night and face has felt itchy/irritated since having moved to my dads house yesterday afternoon.
I woke with whiteheads on my chin (which I haven't had now in quite some time!) ... :( 
Potentially because of my new Vitamin C enriched organic oil for repair. I won't use it tonight and see what happens.
My breathing has been annoying today... also had some bubbling in the stomach. The bubbling started up again yesterday after eating that piece of lamb backstrap which was quite old.... I also ate the soup this morning which had the lamb stock .. which may not be all that great for me..

Just found a great blog, called "a dietitian gone paleo" - she sounds just like me to be honest! it's crazy...

I realise that I eat sweet potato, even though I'm on the SCD diet - but honestly, I simply cannot survive let alone thrive on a diet of meat, fish, some fruits and some vegetables! Its crazy. I can't eat eggs or dairy like other people on SCD... It is not sustainable if I need to gain weight etc!!! It would mean I would have to eat some type of animal meat for breakfast lunch and dinner to maintain my weight and feel full - which in itself is ridiculous. Especially considering that my stool test reported back that I have low pancreatic enzymes available to breakdown proteins.
I have to watch what I eat to a degree of ultimate insanity in some ways. The things I have to watch for are:
  • GLUTEN FREE - celiac disease!
  • SCD legal foods
  • No Dairy
  • No Eggs
  • No Yeast
  • No Sugar
  • No Nuts (at the moment)
  • Low Amines, Salicylates and Glutamates
  • PLUS a consistent rotation of foods as to not cause an intolerance to an overexposed food (which I believe began to occur with bananas - but now have cut back hardcore on them and occasionally have them)
As you can see - that pretty much limits me to eating dust. YESSSSS.
I am 55kg. 5"9' ..... Which means underweight. It's not great to be honest.
It's infuriating and I severely dislike this situation.. It makes it hard to know what to eat - "is it THIS that's upsetting me ? Or is it the combination of foods not agreeing with me? or is it too much exposure to amines/salicylates?" - constantly running through my mind. 
My acne gets worse/feels irritated when somethings wrong in my body but it's generally impossible to know WHAT set it off! It could have been the flipping avocadoes I ate 4 days ago!!! ARGH!
Luckily I don't have a problem with fruit :) I love fruit... but you know, I cannot live off fruit, and if I did I could just as likely start to become intolerant to it just from too much exposure.

My symptoms are definitely not as hardcore as many of the people's I've read about - but they CAN get that way. I HAVE had episodes consisting of constant nausea, headaches, extreme dizziness and vertigo, diarrhea, brain fog, shooting pains in head. This happened once after consuming BULK onion and BULK almonds. SINCE then, I have not eaten ANY nuts. I have been eating onion though which has been fine.
There is also this issue with the breathing difficulties. It got better for about a week... about a week ago. I cut down on the bananas and avocados (one idea), and began to rotate the foods more which has helped. I also believe the Zinc and B6 have helped, along with Vitamin C and also the Minerals drink.
This week however I ate pumpkin and it started up again. Not saying that it was the pumpkin but it's just so confusing!
Theres the issue also with insulinaemia.... pumpkin and the like are basically sugar when cooked. High GI... I cannot eat too much pumpkin/carrots/orange veg anyway because I have carotenaemia! WOoooooooo. It makes it a journey everyday to decide what to eat - and because my diet is so limited it's hard to stop myself and refrain from eating 39 bananas SO I CAN actually FEEL FULL/SATISFIED!
I bought some green split peas today :) Which i'm super excited about - I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE split peas. The mushyness... creaminess :) Mmmmm..
First organic store I went into on the packet said they were processed on the same equipment as grains etc therefore may contain traces of Gluten - far out! I went to another Organic store I love and bought some of the bulk supply they have, and just gave them a REALLY thorough rinse. 
They are now soaking and I shall cook them tomorrow morn !

So.. the symptoms I get if something doesn't agree are generally just bubbling /gurgling intestines area, irritated face (acne feels itchy),

BM ok this morning, felt slightly urgent to come out, a bit looser than normal. Potentially because of food combining yesterday (sugary CHO - pumpkin and lamb) or emotional upset yesterday or too much pumpkin.
Breathing is also still playing up again after that large stint of being much better, it may be because though I'm a bit worried my Mum is going away again, I don't want her to leave.

I've decided today that I'm not going to eat as much red meat as I have been. I will aim to have it more like twice a week, with one day without any animal protein per week, and the rest having fish/seafood and turkey and duck and rabbit etc.

Slight rumbling this arvo after I got home and began eating my fish and cauliflower/broccolini dish, continued into night. Woke with rumblings next morning (13th Jan). 13th Jan rumblings disappeared after BM in morn.

Felt pretty good today.. BM quite  normal looking and fine.
No bubbling of the stomach, slight headache but it was VERY hot today also ..
A little weak and my knees feel hot and a bit stiff when I bend them.

BM = smooth surface today unlike previous few days which have looked 'rough' /not like toothpaste.
I am potentially suspecting that this change in consistency is because I did not eat sweet potato yesterday.
I also didnt eat any today so I will have to see what tomorrow's BM will be like.
BM quite a dark colour, almost dark green... quite odd.
Good size.
A little bit of stomach upset today. Just bubbly/rumbly a little bit.
Not as much gas today.

Had breathing difficulty today though. Began lunchtime/afternoon. Still apparent at night (10.20pm)... not sure what it is.
I proposed to mum that it may be bananas (please no) ... as during the time when I was not eating them (for about a week or more) I noticed much improved breathing. Not sure, I'll see how tomorrow goes.

Have not done my BM for this morning as of yet. Have been awake for an hour or so. Usually would have gone by now.
Breathing is slightly compromised.

Woke without a bubbling tummy.
BM this morning ok. A little loose but formed. Beetroot visible. Maybe slightly green, not much though.
Up close looked slightly odd... slimy maybe. Not sure. All in all though, relatively normal.
Have had settled tummy today. Woke in morning as I usually do (about 4am) to wee, and I was surprised to find that I did not have a bubbling tummy - much joy to me as I ate bulk sweet potato last night! So it can't be the SP causing probbies.
My mum and I have come to the conclusion that it is high protein in my diet that causes bubbling. I really think this is the case because my stool test I got done showed that I was lacking Pancreatic Elastase 1 which is an important enzyme for protein break down.
So, from now I'm going to try and limit the amount of protein (portion size) each day and monitor the effects after eating protein.


Today I was reading more about foods for Thyroid health.
Goitrogens are present in a number of vegetables. These include broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, sweet potato. GAY!
These inhibit iodine from being used for efficient thyroid hormone production. I'm going to try and limit these foods a bit more... although the thought of a day without sweet potato is depressing ;P
Today I felt a bit spacey in the head, after lunch time. Ok though in general.
Did yoga/stretching this morning., then walked down to town with Mum to the supermarket to buy some stuff, carried heavy bags home. Good workout.
This afternoon went to beach and swam in lovely sea and got some sun and salt on the face. Then walked up Mt Tinbeerwah. Nice nice niceeee.

Bubbling tummy since about yesterday afternoon. This morning I woke with rumbling/bubbling stomach. Not sure why... Diarrhoea this morning.

Ate a whole large white sweet potato today.
Not sure as to why I have had gas, and occasional gurgling/bubbling stomach today. It started after lunch time.
Tomorrow I am not going to eat sweet potato and see if its any different. I hope to the highest heavens that it is not sweet potato causing it .... sweet potato is my only salvation!!! haha. in other words. I am in love with sweet potato and can't bear to part with it for long.
